Appreciation goes to  Lane Cove Chamber of Commerce for encouraging members and local businesses to attend.  Valuable information was shared and all would have to agree that Social Media is the marketing platform best invested in to gain ground in today's challenging business climate.

Have Your Say on the New Planning System White Paper

Residents may recall that last year the State Government announced their plans for a New Planning System for NSW.

Council made a submission to the NSW Minister for Planning and Infrastructure in November 2012 in response to the Green Paper on the proposed planning system.

The White Paper on this new planning system has just been released this week. Council is therefore looking to host two community consultation sessions in May to ensure that the Lane Cove community has an opportunity to understand the proposed changes and provide comment. Representatives from the Department of Planning will also be invited to attend.

The community will be asked to make submissions to Council to assist us in the drafting of a response to the Minister on behalf of Lane Cove Council. These submissions will be received until 31 May 2013.

Further details on the exact dates of the consultation sessions and steps to make submissions to Council will be made available on Council's website shortly.

In the meantime Council recommends residents refer to the Department of Planning and Infrastructure's website for further details on the White Paper.

Council recently updated its passive smoking policy to reflect changes introduced under the NSW Government's new tobacco legislation.

The most significant legislative change is that
smoking is now prohibited within 4 metres of the
entrance to all non-residential buildings. This
impacts all of the shopping/commercial precincts
where footpaths in Lane Cove will now be smoke-free. Find out more...
