Public Domain Masterplan
Lane Cove Village Public Domain Plan
The preparation of a draft Lane Cove Village Public Domain Master Plan was one of the key actions in the Lane Cove Structure Plan, adopted July 2008.
The Lane Cove Village Public Domain Plan is an initiative of Lane Cove ALIVE however as this is a major Council Project and as such subject to Council management and construction, a joint Council Sunset Task Group including representatives of Lane Cove ALIVE was established.
In November 2008, Council engaged Spackman Mossop Michaels to prepare the draft Lane Cove Village Public Domain Master Plan.
A draft Lane Cove Village Public Domain Master Plan was prepared by Urban Planning consultants, Spackman Mossop Michaels. This followed a number of workshops with Councillors, a workshop with interested representatives of various Lane Cove resident associations, Lane Cove Alive, the Lane Cove Chamber of Commerce, and the Commercial Property Owners Association of Lane Cove.
The draft Lane Cove Village Public Domain Master Plan set out two options for the future urban design of the Lane Cove Plaza, and urban design issues and actions for:-
1. Longueville Road, between Epping Road and Central Avenue;
2. Longueville Road, outside the Library Forecourt and the Community Centre;
3. Little Lane;
4. Rosenthal Lane and Birdwood Lane; and
5. Burns Bay Road.
In June it was proposed that the Council adopt the draft Lane Cove Village Public Domain Master Plan for the purposes of public exhibition.
However Council moved to defer display of the Draft Lane Cove Village Public Domain Master Plan until residents have had time to experience and consider the changes to the Lane Cove Plaza following the opening of Lane Cove Market Square.
